Creation! Wizz-bang! was conceived by LJ Communications, specifically to promote applications of science and technology to 11-14 year olds.

With over 20 years’ experience in performance education and communications, including nine years from 1999 -2007 working as the creative & production team behind the popular IEE/IET Faraday lectures…..

Whilst business is facing a growing demand for a scientific and technologically competent workforce, insufficient numbers of young people are leaving education with the qualifications and motivation to pursue a career in this area. It is increasingly vital that this supply is available in order to meet this skills challenge and to ensure that the UK is, and continues to be, globally competitive.

Long term solutions to this problem lie in redefining young people’s experience of science and technology and its place in the world in order for them to become enthused and engaged.

The WIZZ-BANG project offers one solution and aims to bring science and technology alive through the medium of a highly professional roadshow. This underpinned by rigorous classroom support will provide a better understanding of how scientific concepts apply to everyday contexts in a creative and compelling way.

It is essential to create awareness and an inspirational environment for young people at all stages of their education. Critically however research shows that it is often during the transition from primary to secondary education that students start to lose interest in science and design and technology. The opportunity to get out of the classroom and experience a ‘live’ show in a new and exciting environment provides crucial added value to a learning experience.
